Mission Statement

To serve as a forum for San Diego region public agencies to develop partnerships, and share information, ideas, strategies, and solutions regarding the management of GIS and related technologies in order to provide more efficient and effective service to our agencies and constituents.

Membership

Anyone who wishes to participate in the SDRGC is asked to join the council. Members receive meeting announcements, job postings and other information of interest to the San Diego GIS community.

At the November, 2022 meeting Emily Perkins, GIS Manager, USGS San Diego Management and Monitoring Program presented on how they are using GIS for habitat and species management and monitoring. You can view that presentation here.

At the April, 2022 meeting Drew Decker from the USGS demoed a new USGS web application that enables the public to create custom topographic maps on demand. The online application is called topoBuilder. Here is a link to the application. You can find more information about the application in the April meeting minutes here.

At the August, 2021 meeting Jennifer Maria-Benavides, a GIS Analyst from the County of San Diego Assessor's Mapping Division, presented on the topic Assessor Maintained Parcels (AMP) & Assessor’s Index Maps production using GIS. You can view that presentation here.
